EDPB and AMLA to develop Joint Guidelines on partnerships for information sharing

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) are developing Joint Guidelines to clarify how to share information for combating financial crime while protecting personal data. The guidelines will address Article 75 of the AML Regulation, which enables information sharing from 10 July 2027. The EDPB and AMLA will hold a stakeholder event in 2026 and launch public consultation on draft guidelines in the first half of 2027. The guidelines aim to provide practical clarity for companies, supervisors, Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), and data protection authorities on establishing effective partnerships that balance information sharing with GDPR compliance.
