Commission designates ChatGPT, Reddit, Roblox under Digital Services Act
The European Commission has designated ChatGPT as a Very Large Online Search Engine (VLOSE), and Reddit and Roblox as Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) under the Digital Services Act (DSA). These services meet the threshold of at least 45 million average monthly users in the EU. Following notification, they have four months (until January 2027) to comply with additional DSA obligations for VLOPs and VLOSEs, including assessing and mitigating systemic risks related to illegal content, negative effects on minors, users' well-being, fundamental rights, electoral processes, and public security.
