Commission designates ChatGPT, Reddit, Roblox under Digital Services Act
The European Commission has designated ChatGPT as a Very Large Online Search Engine (VLOSE), and Reddit and Roblox as Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) under the Digital Services Act (DSA). These platforms meet the 45 million average monthly users threshold in the EU. They have four months (by January 2027) to comply with additional DSA obligations for VLOPs and VLOSEs, including assessing and mitigating systemic risks related to illegal content, effects on minors, well-being, fundamental rights, electoral processes, and public security.
